Ending chronic and reoccurring homelessness in the community is the goal of the newly-implemented Built for Zero community-driven collaboration that works to make homelessness rare, brief and non-reoccurring.
Fremont County was one of 85 communities nationwide selected to be part of this collaboration, and one of only five in Colorado selected for the initiative through a competitive application process.
During the last five years, 11 communities have reached “functional zero” for veteran and chronic homelessness, meaning the homelessness was rare, brief and one time for those populations. Two of those communities have reached “double zero” by ending both veteran and chronic homelessness. They’re now working to end youth and family homelessness.
