Kassa Belay joined the Brownsville Partnership as its Executive Director in June of 2022. He brings his expertise running collective impact initiatives that rely on community organizing approaches to root out racial disparities in ways that are meaningful to local stakeholders and external power-brokers alike.
He has spent the last 15 years living and working in Brooklyn, NY. His work has spanned sectors ranging from youth development, criminal justice, child welfare and early childhood development, taking him through positions in city government, philanthropy and community based organizations.
Kassa graduated from The New School with an MS in Urban Policy Analysis and Management. Previous to that, Kassa graduated from Concordia University, in Montreal, Canada with a B.A. (Joint Specialization) in Anthropology and Sociology. Kassa hails from the Boston neighborhood of Jamaica Plain.
