Pronouns: She/Her/Hers

Claire Caldwell is Campaigns Executive Director, leading efforts to reach a tipping point where people believe it is possible to make homelessness rare and brief and are invested in solutions that work. She brings 10+ years experience designing and stewarding cross-sector coalitions and grassroots movements to shift cultural narratives, pass legislation, turn out the vote, and organize constituencies to action. She believes in the power of stories to win hearts and minds, the power of relational networks to scale movements, and the power of local initiatives to seed national change.

Before coming to Community Solutions, Claire worked on campaigns on the local, state, and national stages across all time zones, from California, to Colorado, to Texas, to New Hampshire. The work she’s proudest of is organizing child care workers in California to win the right to unionize, mobilizing voters in Colorado to defend access to abortion care at the ballot box, and advancing a grassroots organizing and legislative advocacy strategy in New Hampshire to codify non-discrimination protections for transgender people into law. She has also worked on initiatives related to immigration and family separation, prescription price gouging and the war on drugs, criminal and civil justice reform, circular economy and environmentalism, and anti-poverty efforts.

Claire graduated Cum Laude from American University. She is from Greensboro, North Carolina and currently lives in Maplewood, New Jersey, with her partner and cat. She is training to become a certified mindfulness teacher and has been practicing insight meditation in the Theravada Buddhism tradition for ten years. In her spare time, she likes doing work with her hands: gardening, cooking, DIY house projects. And she loves a good dinner party.
