Joanna is a Systems Improvement Advisor/Community Coach with the Path to Zero team. Joanna joined Built for Zero with 13 years of experience working in the housing and homeless sectors in the UK and Arizona. Much of her career has been spent working directly with families and households experiencing homelessness and housing instability in advisor, case management and program management roles. She has worked in Rapid Rehousing, Permanent Supportive Housing and within Civil Legal Aid contracts to support low-income communities with legal issues pertaining to housing.
Joanna found success in systems change and advocacy work in Arizona, bringing together her direct experience with her passion for social justice and systems-level thinking to address complex social issues. Joanna has experience working with diverse communities to address local issues, including in rural parts of Arizona. Joanna has engaged in work to bring solutions to underserved groups and to advocate for change that addresses systems inequity and disparity in housing outcomes. Recognizing where the system isn’t working and finding innovative, equitable and collaborative solutions is the core of Joanna’s work. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology from Sheffield Hallam University, England and a Master of Public Administration from Grand Canyon University, Arizona.
