The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act has become law. Community Solutions celebrates this bipartisan victory and recognition of the essential role of a stable home in every life and as a foundation for strong communities. 

The bill reduces barriers to housing development, modernizes federal housing programs, and will expand the range of housing options available to families and individuals at different price points and life stages. 

More housing options mean less financial stress for struggling American families; more opportunities for nurses, teachers, and other key workers to afford to live in the communities they serve; less homelessness and less terror of finding oneself without a stable home.

Community Solutions joined with more than 100 organizations — builders, planners, affordable housing advocates, civil rights groups, and local coalitions in nearly every state — to urge Congress to pass the bill.   

This inspiring policy victory shows the readiness of unusual allies to come together around practical solutions to one of our country’s great challenges.  We are grateful for our community partners who joined in advocating for the bill, and look forward to working with our network of 170 communities to harness its local benefits toward making homelessness rare and brief.
