Johnson v. Grants Pass Twitter Storm

April 22, 2024

On April 22, 2024, the Supreme Court of the United States will hear the case of Gloria Johnson, et al vs. Grants Pass, Oregon. This sets the stage for the most significant Supreme Court case about homelessness in decades. At its core, this case will decide whether cities can arrest and fine people for things like sleeping outside with a pillow or blanket, even when there are no safe shelter options.

A growing list of partners from around the country will rally at the courthouse on the day of the oral arguments.

While not all of us can attend the rally in person, you can still get involved and show SCOTUS, Congress, and the media that homelessness is not a crime and that arresting or ticketing people experiencing homelessness does more harm.

Join us for a Twitter storm on April 22 from 11am – 1pm ET. as we pool our collective voices and get the hashtags #JohnsonVGrantsPass, #HomelessnessIsSolvable, and #HousingNotHandcuffs trending.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Pick a tweet (or two, or three!) below.
  2. Add a graphic to your tweet if you’d like.
