As the Director of IDEA, Janell Thomas is a passionate co-conspirator and contributor to advancing inclusion, diversity, equity, and access at Community Solutions. They play a pivotal role in fostering an environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and able to thrive.
With a public health, psychology, project management, and DEI background, Janell brings over 15 years of experience reshaping workplace culture. Janell has provided strategic counsel, executive coaching, and technical support to organizations that desire to tackle inequities. She has dedicated her career to advancing social justice and equity, working collaboratively with organizations and communities to address systemic challenges.
Janell is known for their strategic approach to promoting IDEA, implementing strategies that go beyond surface-level changes. Her work to create opportunities for underrepresented groups ensures that Community Solutions reflects the rich tapestry of the communities it resources. Before Community Solutions, Janell successfully provided strategic approaches, trainings, and coaching to philanthropic organizations, non-profits, hospital systems, universities, professional sports teams, and global organizations seeking to advance equity.
In addition to their professional responsibilities, Janell is an active member of the Worldwide Women’s Association and the American Association for Access, Equity, and Diversity and serves as a board member for Youth Empowered Society (YES). Their commitment to equity extends beyond the workplace, making a positive impact on a broader scale.
Janell firmly believes that IDEA is not just a goal but a journey, and she remains dedicated to guiding Community Solutions toward a more inclusive, diverse, equitable, and accessible future.
