Sacramento has been chosen to participate in a national campaign to end veteran and chronic homelessness.
The Sacramento City and County Continuum of Care has been chosen to participate in a national campaign to end veteran and chronic homelessness in the next two years.
It’s called “Zero: 2016” and it’s been developed by the national nonprofit Community Solutions.
The program will launch in January when volunteers will walk the streets and survey the homeless during the bi-annual point-in-time count.
The information gathered will be help Sacramento’s Continuum of Care develop a better understanding of the needs of the area’s homeless, which will allow them to better match those in need with appropriate housing and services.
There are more than 300 homeless veterans and more than 400 chronically homeless people currently in Sacramento.
